Finding a dog friendly cabin with hot tub in Oregon should be easy. Oregon has more dogs than sense and more rain than anywhere needs a hot tub. But a surprising number of listings make you choose: bring the dog or get the soak. We don't think you should have to.
Why we made all of ours dog-friendly
Simple. We travel with dogs. The number of trips we've skipped because the good cabin said no pets is embarrassing. So when we set up our own homes, dogs came first and hot tubs came second, and it turns out those two things go together beautifully. Wet dog, tired dog, human in tub, everyone quiet by 9pm.
Wildwood Basecamp, Mt. Hood Village
The mountain option. Wildwood Basecamp sits on 1.6 wooded acres, sleeps eight, and has a private hot tub out back under the trees. Dogs get a big property to sniff, and you get the Salmon River trail a few minutes away for a real walk. Winter is peak season here: ski at Skibowl or Timberline, come back, soak while the snow falls. The bunkhouse lounge means the kids have somewhere to be while the adults are in the tub.
Dog notes: the property isn't fully fenced, so keep an eye on adventurous types. There are coyotes and the occasional elk. Bring a long leash for the yard if your dog is a wanderer.
The Weekender, Neskowin
The small, quiet option. The Weekender is a two-bedroom cabin for up to three people, steps from the beach, with a private hot tub on the deck and a wood-burning stove inside. Neskowin is one of the calmest beach towns on the coast. Walk the dog to Proposal Rock in the morning, hit the Ghost Forest at low tide, come back and soak while the fog rolls in.
Dog notes: the beach is right there and it's off-leash friendly when it's empty, which is most of the time. The deck is a good place for a wet dog to dry while you're in the tub. Sand happens; we leave towels.
Puffin Lane, Manzanita
The big-group coast option. Puffin Lane sleeps seven across four bedrooms, has a cedar hot tub, a yoga studio, a king suite with its own bath, and backs onto the golf course. The beach is two blocks away, and it's seven miles of dog-friendly sand. Manzanita might be the most dog-obsessed town in Oregon; half the shops on Laneda have water bowls out.
Dog notes: Nehalem Bay State Park next door is great for leashed walks on paved paths. Oswald West and Short Sand Beach, ten minutes north, are a favorite for dogs who like to chase surfers.
Hot tub etiquette with dogs (a short list)
- Dogs don't go in the tub. Ever. Chemistry, fur, and claws are a bad mix and it's not safe for them anyway.
- Keep the cover on when you're not using it. A curious dog on a hot tub cover is a vet bill.
- Rinse the dog before it comes inside. Salt and sand on the couch is a cleaning fee waiting to happen.
- Bring their bed. A dog with its own bed settles faster in a new place.
Coast vs. mountain: which one?
Mountain if you want snow, skiing, and a woodsy soak. Coast if you want beach walks, storm watching, and the sound of the ocean from the tub. Neskowin for two people and a dog. Manzanita for a group. We went deeper on the coast side in Oregon Coast beach houses with hot tubs.
Booking with a dog
Tell us about your dog when you book. Size, count, temperament. Not because we'll say no, but because we can give you the right tips for the property. We also clean thoroughly between every stay, which matters if the next guest has allergies. If you book direct you skip the platform fees and you're talking to a human in Oregon, not a chatbot in a call center.
Bring a towel. Bring a book you won't read because you're in the hot tub instead.
